How is fishing off Captree these days? - 8/19/2006 9:00:44 PM

I'm curious how the fishing is on the Great South Bay off Captree. I'm hoping to take my young son out on a party boat and am wondering if fluke are still around. Or if we should be going for something else. Or somewhere else. We're not really up for a super-serious evening / night trip.

Thank you.

Hi Nancy,

Captree is a great choice to bring your son fishing... There's alot of Fluke around this time of year and he's sure to catch a few... The hard part is trying to catch one to take home though as the keeper size is 18"...

If you're looking for a full day trip, try the Captain Rod (http://www.captrodfishing.com)... Their's alot of choices for half day trips... Here's a few off the top of my head: Island Princess (http://www.islandprincessfishing.com), Capt. Gillen II (http://www.captaingillen.com)

You can see all the captree boats here:

Good luck!

We went out today, and caught seven fish but no keepers. Weather was beautiful, and we had a great time. So it was only a minor disappointment we weren't able to have a fish dinner.

Nonetheless, I'd be interested in trying for some other fish. Why are all the party boat striped bass / blues trips in the evening?
