Well, I work right in Port Washington and is not too far from Oyster Bay.  I was wondering if I will have any success at either of these areas from the docks.  Since I do not own a boat.  If I were fishing from the docks.  What kind of fish would I be fishing for at this time of the year?  What kind of bait would be best for this and where can the bait be bought?  As you can tell, I am very new to fishing but found this website on the web through google and seems like you guys know a lot more than I do so hopefully some of you guys can point me in the right direction to my first catch!

THANK YOU~!

Late Aug to late Oct is great for stripers all over LI North Shore.  Try to get out there an hour or two before or after the slack tides, early mornings and evenings.  Try using rapalla luars imitating spearing or peanut bunker.  Let me know if u have any luck.

Your best bet around the oysterbay area is actually BAYVILLE lol if u are going from the shore u should try the bayville bridges. they have sighns all over the place saying that your not allowed to fish but they laet it go on. u can try right of the bridge or on the side near the shore. another place would be by centerisland in  bayville on the soundside by the rocks if u have a reguler surf caster those spots should bring u some luck
