The peconic is a spawning spot early in the year for many types of fish. Late april through may is when the weakfish really get hot. This year was great and im sure 2008 will be the same for weaks. Stripers in the 20 pound class will begin to show up in may. DURING MONTHS WHEN THE WATER TEMPERATURE IS HIGH YOU WANT TO FISH STRIPERS IN DEEP WATER. One hotspot for blues is paradise point. Fluke are hot in the peconic along with tog, sea bass, and blackfish. For fluke i suggest a minnow, fluke belly combo. For stripers it really depends on where you are and where the fish are. If you have a fishfinder look there if they are near the surface consider topwater poppers. If they are near the bottom then jig a diamond jig or a bucktail. I dont fish the peconic to much, i only fish from the surf so the last time i saw a real blitz was early in the season so i dont know where they are. Goodluck and remember just have fun.
