I have been doing alot of stipper fishing this year and have landed 4 or 5 keepers so far at the the Atlantic beach bridge at night on clams.  I am looking to branch out into Sea Bass for a change of pace. I am pulling out of East Rockaway and would love it if anyone has any advice on bait, time, tide, location etc. for sea bass.  Thanks.

Sea bass are a cool little fish.  I remember diving a wreck out of moriches.  I went down and littelrly coudlnt see the bottom because it was codded with fluke and sea bass.  When fishing sea bass i suggest a two hook setup one hook under sinker one over because sea bass swim at varied depths.  The hook should be 2/0 with sand worms and a 8-16 ounce sinker depending on current.  As far as location i strongly suggest wrecks but im not sure of two many by you so check a baitshop, marina or the web to see where you can find some wrecks.  Most important remember to have fun!!!  Goodluck.

yeah, sea bass generally hang out around some kind of structure. You can also catch em on clam bellies and/or squid if you can't get your hands on sand worms. I believe the current regulation is 12"... Unfortunatly i'm not at all familiar with your area...

...out off old field point, blackfishing, using green crabs on a one hook setup.  pulled 2 or 3 4lb blackfish, but the sea bass were chompin' the crabs just the same.  both fish love the rocks and man are they tastey.
