This weekend on the South Shore in the jones beach inlet we caught a fish that look like a light tan/sand colored sea robin (without the spikes) and a face like a bulldog (with wrinkles and a mouth and upside down "u" shaped mouth) ....  there were some nasty teeth in there too.. it was the weirdest thing and I've never seen one before Does anyone know the type?

Hmm... perhaps it was a northern stargazer? (see photo)

- if this is what you caught you should be glad that you didn't get an electric shock by the two little nubs on the top of it's head... no joke...

THAT WAS IT.... WE USED A RAG TO UN HOOK IT So I guess we avoided the shock!!! hahaha Are they Edible?

good question...I'm not sure... all I know is whoever fillet's it better be careful. ;)

i wouldnt even try fillet that thing im suprised u didnt get shocked

i caught something like that on a san diego wreck trip off long island in jan. they called it a scorpion fish. they were joking about it shocking me and i thought they were joking... i guess not. that was the only fish i let the mate actually take off
