Pool fish was over 9lbs...

Hows it going?  I just moved to Northport from NJ and I am looking for some spots on shore to fish... Going for strippers, blues etc...  Does anyone have any tips?

Hello, stripers in stonybrook harbor (in the back)incoming tide, light house(middle grounds) plenty of blues porgys ,stripers if you can get under blues, some fluke and sea bass. For middle grounds go to port jeff harbor(use as your marker)then turn hard left compass north 1degree east keep looking for light house and fishing boats.Small stripers by all rock jetties on north shore....

i just joined today  so sorry i couldnt reply earlier.  it oct. 28 now  .you are in northport  so a good area close to your new home is to try crab meadow beach. there is a small rock jetty on the west side edge of the beach property line, that i have caught many blues and bass from .If you continue going west along the beach from that jetty you will be in an area that is known for catching bass very late in the season and right into the winter cause there is an outflow from the power plant that keeps the water warmer than normal. Its called the lilco outflow. On the east side of crabmeadow beach is an area that has a creek that emptys into the sound and has some rips and dips . That is also good for blues and bass at times.  Moving  away from home you can try sunken meadow beach state park which is east by kings park.  Park in the lot farthest east at the very end and walk out to beach and work the beach from there too the east all the way to the nessaquogue river. If you plan to be there at nite you need a nite fishing permit that you can bye at the park office.good luck bob

dude,

I'm not from the area but I'm visitng some family and we hang out at the centerport yacht club. Can you describe what beach this is and what channel you're referring to? We got a boat to go out on, I wonder if we head in that direction we can catch some blues
