Hey guys,

Im an irish student coming over to Montauk for two months at the end of may will ba trying to get as much fishing in as possible. I mainly fly fish and spin but use bait as well. I have read Lou tabory's book so have a good idea what to expect. Two questions can you catch fluke/flounder on lures over there and are they two different species? Thanks for any help Im sure I'll have more questions

hey jack,

fluke and flounder are two different types of fish. flounder are usually caught on worms or clam\mussels while chumming. fluke are best caught while drifting in a boat or using rigs or jigs with a slow retreive from shore. just to let you know the flounder season is over the last day of may and fluke regulations have just been changed so look up the new regs. bring your fly rod and you might get to cast on some stripers while you are here and have a blast.
