I had gone on three fishing trips at the Captree for fluke on open charter boats within 2 weeks. All 3 trips left me a bad taste for fishing on charter boats. Sad to say, I did not catch any keepers. There was a total of three keepers on all three trips combined and one of the trips no keepers It was nice being on a boat in the open water. I had spent a lot of money and I don't think I would spend one more dime on a open charter fishing boat.

I would like to apologize to almost all the fishing boat Captains about the post above. This was due to one fishing boat which I will not name but starts with the letter "G". That was written out of frustration. It's sad if you go on the same fishing boat three times and become SOL. That boat goes to set spots they have and will stay there for a while before moving to another spot. Once the time gets closer to going back to shore the Cpt will go to a Sea Robin hot spot. Which is not cool because they are not good eating fish.
To everyone else, there are great boats to go on in the Captree. One of my favorites is the Captree Princess. As for other fishing boats at the Captree I cannot speak for because I have not been on other boats cause I have been fishing on the Captree Princess.

There are many good open fishing boats at Captree State Park. If you find one you like, stick with it. If you want to try others, you should. Catching keepers right now is difficult due to the many legal restrictions there are on keeping fluke. If you're not catching fluke, and you're dismayed, try one of the boats going for sea bass or porgies during the day, or try one of the many boats going for evening blues.
